aBOUT kAREN dORE
A passionate Yorkshire lass now living in North East Derbyshire, with a lifelong love of photography and storytelling through images. I’m a dedicated wildlife, landscape, and event photographer, drawn to both nature’s quiet moments and the energy of people coming together.
My wildlife and landscape work is rooted in patience — countless hours spent waiting for changing light, shifting weather, and that one fleeting moment where everything aligns. I have a particular love for monochrome photography, using black and white to strip scenes back to their essence, allowing texture, contrast, and emotion to take centre stage.
Alongside this, my fascination with history has led me into the quieter spaces. As a taphophile, I photograph graveyards and memorials, documenting their atmosphere, craftsmanship, and the stories they hold — often overlooked, yet deeply moving.
I studied photography in the 1980s, and my work has been exhibited internationally, including shows in Barcelona, London, Madrid, and Athens. That early grounding continues to shape how I see the world: with curiosity, respect, and an eye for narrative.
Whether I’m behind the lens at a bustling event, immersed in the landscape, or walking among weathered headstones, my aim is always the same — to tell a story, preserve a moment, and invite the viewer to pause and look a little closer.
